Asian Pacific Heritage Festival 2022

The Asian Pacific Heritage Festival is a celebration of Asians and Pacific Islanders in Second Life. In the month of May, we will come together for this vibrant festival to celebrate and share our vast culture, diversity and history with the entire Second Life community through live music, photography exhibitions, traditional food, the parade of countries, discussion panels and more.

We invite virtual residents of Second Life to showcase their Asian and Pacific Island heritage. This festival will take place on a full sim with the center area for the Open Air Market, as well as an event stage. This will be surrounded by parade floats and the art exhibition.

Last May I did a photo in honor of my Filipino heritage because it was Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month. I remember thinking that it was a shame that we didn’t have anything in-world to celebrate this. I’ve been toying with an idea for this festival since then, but only really started working on it a few weeks ago. Currently, I have a dozen designers involved, the same amount of photographers, half a dozen live singers and a handful of decorators. This was by word of mouth alone, but this event is to be inclusive for all people of Asian or Pacific Islander descent, no matter where they are in the world. This is meant for us to celebrate and share our heritage with the entire Second Life community.

I am looking for decorators to decorate parade floats, photographers for our art exhibition, foodies to contribute recipes for our cook book, live singers and DJs for our live music festival and parties, speakers for our discussion panel and presentations and so much more.

There is a tentative schedule, but it is all subject to change with more to be added or adjusted.
